Using Sloth Money

What you can expect from Sloth, how to use it, and your rights.

Version: 13 October 2026

Who runs Sloth Money

Sloth Money is the trading name of Ratheepan Balasubramaniam, a sole trader (“we”, “us” and “our”).

Contact us at hello@slothmoney.app for help, questions about these terms or a complaint. Please do not send passwords, access tokens or bank login details.

What these terms cover

These terms cover your personal use of the Sloth Money app and its connected features, including the Agent API, command-line interface (CLI), hosted MCP connection and plugin. They apply when you create an account after being shown these terms. You can save or print this page for your records.

Sloth helps you track spending, plan budgets and savings goals, and explore forecasts. Depending on the feature, you can enter data yourself, connect a supported account or share selected information with a partner.

Sloth does not hold your money or move money between bank accounts. Changing a budget allocation, goal contribution or recorded payment changes your planning records; it does not make a payment or investment trade.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details and access tokens private. Use only accounts, files and information you own or are authorised to access. Tell us promptly if you think someone has used your account without permission.

Some features need a verified email address, full account access or a compatible external provider. The app explains these requirements when they apply. You remain free to use available manual features without connecting a bank.

Free beta access

Join during the free beta and full access is yours free forever. No payment card is required, and providing feedback is optional. These terms do not remove that promise.

If we offer a paid service, we will explain its price, billing period and cancellation terms before you choose it. We will not start charging you merely because you create an account or continue using your free beta access.

Connected accounts and sharing

Bank and investment connections use external providers. You choose which supported accounts to connect and give permission through the provider’s connection flow. Their terms also apply to their services.

Balances and transactions may be delayed, incomplete or unavailable. Check your bank or investment provider’s records before making a financial decision. Disconnecting a provider stops future sync for that connection; it does not automatically delete information already stored in Sloth.

Partner sharing depends on the settings you choose. Check those settings before sharing private financial information. Do not upload or share another person’s information without authority.

Connected agents, API and CLI

Connecting an agent or creating an API token lets that tool access the Sloth data covered by its permissions. New connections and tokens are view-only by default. Allow changes only for a tool you trust and review proposed changes before approving them.

Write permission can let a tool change supported planning records, including budgets, goals, transaction categories and sharing settings. The API checks permissions, but cannot determine whether a conversation with an external agent represents your approval. Check important saved changes in Sloth.

You can disconnect an agent or revoke an API token in Settings. Hosted agent connections expire after 30 days unless you reconnect. API tokens follow the expiry shown when you create them.

Your chosen agent provider receives the results it requests within the access you allow and applies its own terms and privacy policy. The connection page explains when verified-email access is requested. Read those details before connecting.

Forecasts and AI results

Budgets, forecasts, categorisation suggestions and AI responses depend on the information and assumptions available. They can contain mistakes and do not guarantee a financial outcome. Review suggestions and figures before relying on them.

Sloth provides planning information, not personal financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Consider qualified advice for decisions that need it. These limits describe the service and do not remove our responsibility to provide it with reasonable care and skill.

Your information

You keep your rights in the information you provide. We use it to provide Sloth and for the purposes explained in our Privacy Policy. Agreeing to these terms is not consent to optional marketing or a substitute for any separate permission a feature needs.

The Privacy Policy explains what is collected, which providers receive it, retention and your data rights. You can contact us to ask for access, correction, export or deletion of identifiable account data.

Using Sloth responsibly

Do not bypass access controls, misuse another person’s credentials, upload malicious files or deliberately disrupt the service. Do not use Sloth for unlawful activity.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address a security threat, suspected fraud, unlawful use or a serious breach of these terms. Where it is safe and practical, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to resolve the issue. Contact us if you think a restriction is a mistake.

Availability and changes

We maintain and improve Sloth, but outages and maintenance can happen. External providers may change or withdraw a connection. We will take reasonable steps to resolve problems within our control.

We may update these terms to reflect changes in law, security requirements or the features we provide. We will explain material changes in advance and give you a reasonable opportunity to consider them. Where your agreement is needed, we will ask for it. A change will not apply retrospectively or remove your free beta promise or consumer rights.

You can stop using Sloth at any time. Contact us to close your account or request a copy of your data. If we need to end the service, we will give reasonable notice where possible and explain how to request your data. Data deletion remains subject to the retention and legal requirements explained in the Privacy Policy.

Your consumer rights

We will provide Sloth with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms takes away your statutory consumer rights, excludes liability for fraud, or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

If something goes wrong, contact hello@slothmoney.app with a description of the problem. We will investigate and work with you to put it right. These terms do not restrict your right to seek a legal remedy or use a court available to you under applicable law.
